How is it that after 9 years of this fandom, no one, not NO ONE, has drawn best filly with mottled genitals? F1rst!
 
Rarity wasn’t sure if Sweetie had had “the talk” and to what extent, but when she suddenly started leaving stains wherever she sat, she did seem more than a little confused. Now Rarity needed to give an impromptu lesson in proper feminine hygiene. While she could get a little fussy over her little sister, nopony could say her heart wasn’t in the right place.
 
So this comes from the weird headcanon that the mares probably wear pads during heat so as not to leave a snail trail everywhere they go. The necessity for something to give a little privacy would also explain a lot of the need for mare’s fashion.
