Right after the ring bells, class teacher comes in. She greets children and starts the lesson by introducing new Carson’s brother to everyone, so she asks James to come in front and introduce himself to the class, too. James went and said his name, he wanted to sit down again fast. He was too anxious to be in front of everyone.
However Crowley the green colt from the room raised his hoof and asked “How could Carson have a brother so sudden?”, raising some giggles from the class.
James became red. Teacher made a nervous smile, she didn’t know how to answer. But Carson responded, explaining that James is new family member of Ravenstarrs and that he’s a good guy, surely everyone can get along with him. The tension was relieved. James could finally sit down, and teacher could finally resume studies.
Crowley was silent as he glared at new kid.
James was grateful for Carson’s intervention. He realised that Carson is respected by his peers and by teacher. But the realisation that, without Carson, James would literally be nothing brought a lump to his throat.
