[bq]Imagine Quibble Pants’ surprise when he found this in his mailbox one day. At first he was a little nervous about having it, even considered getting rid of it, but as time passed he found himself digging it out of his drawers more and more often. Now he carries with it in his wallet wherever he goes, content I knowing his step-daughter is always there for him.
The sun was beating down on Quibble’s back as he sat on the bleachers, watching as the fillies practiced for the upcoming big game. His eyes were glued to the ball as it passed from one foal’s set of hooves to another, quickly darting across the wet lawn until it was stopped by a familiar pair.
Wind Sprint deftly swiveled the ball between her hooves before kicking it into the air, and swatting it back away from the goal posts with a swish of her right wing. With the ball gone, she wiped her brow and looked up. Their eyes met, and for an instant Quibble felt his heart skip a beat as he realised for just how long he had been staring…
Wind Sprint’s eyes narrowed as her lips curled up into a smile then, just as quickly as it had come, the moment was gone. The filly turned around to cast her attention back to the game, though not without leaving Quibble a passing view her flanks and a little bit of under her tail.
“Damn…” He bit his lip, feeling the familiar need arise.
Glancing around, his wife was right next to him, though her attention was elsewhere as she was focused on the game.
Maybe is he was quick… Quibble reached into the saddlebags beside him on the bleachers and pulled out his wallet. Ears not once turning away from the mare next him, his heart beating like a furious lion, he unfolded the faux leather and revealed the postcard within.
There she was…
Wind Sprint. The daughter of his wife. +His+ step-daughter. Presenting herself to him with the enticing words. “come and get me” he whispered under his breath.
The air was getting heavy.
“Quibble?” His air bristled and he snapped the wallet shut as Clear Sky called in his direction.
“Y-Yes, honey!” Quibble squeaked out a response, looking over at his wife.
Her eyes were still focused on the field, watching the game intently. “I think the game’s almost over. Do you want to start packing up?” she asked, smiling as she turned to face Quibble.
Quibble nodded. “Of course. I’ll-I’ll get right on it.” He steadied his nerves and looked at the wallet in his hooves. He lowered it back into the saddlebags and flipped the cover over to secure the clasp.
Maybe…Maybe someday he’ll take her up on that offer.[/bq]
